Interviews for logistics jobs in the Netherlands don’t have to be scary.

Most companies just want to understand three things:

  1. Can you do the job?

  2. Are you reliable?

  3. Are you safe to work with?

That’s it.

Below you will find the most common questions you may hear in interviews for order picker, warehouse worker, forklift driver, reachtruck driver, production worker, machine operator and similar jobs - plus simple example answers anyone can use.

Let’s make it easy.

1. “Can you tell me about your previous work experience?”

This is usually the first question.

They want a short, clear story about what you did before.

✔ Simple example answer:

“I worked as a warehouse employee for two years. I picked orders, packed products, used a scanner and sometimes helped with loading. I’m used to physical work and working in shifts.”

No need for long details. Just the basics.

2. “What were your main tasks at your last job?”

This helps them understand your skills.

✔ Example tasks you can mention:

  • Picking and packing

  • Working with scanner

  • Preparing pallets

  • Loading/unloading

  • Quality check

  • Operating EPT, forklift or reachtruck

  • Machine operation (for production jobs)

✔ Example answer:

“My main tasks were picking orders with a scanner, packing products, and preparing them for shipment. I also helped with quality checks when needed.”

3. “Do you have experience with scanners or warehouse systems?”

They want to know if you can learn quickly.

✔ Example answer:

“Yes, I used a handheld scanner every day for picking and stock checking. If there is a new system, I learn it fast.”

If you don’t have experience:

“Not yet, but I learn quickly and I’m confident I can handle new systems.”

4. “Do you have a forklift or reachtruck certificate?”

This is important for logistics roles.

✔ If you DO:

“Yes, I have a valid forklift/reachtruck certificate and I used it regularly at my last job.”

✔ If you DON’T:

“Not yet, but I’m very interested in getting one and learning.”

Never say “no” and stop - always show interest.

5. “Are you comfortable working in shifts?”

Many logistics jobs require morning, afternoon and/or night shifts.

✔ Example answer:

“Yes, I can work in shifts. I have done it before and I am flexible.”

If you cannot work shifts:

“I prefer day shifts, but I can be flexible when needed.”

6. “How do you handle physically demanding work?”

They want to know if you understand the job.

✔ Example answer:

“I’m used to physical work like lifting, packing, and standing for long hours. It’s not a problem for me.”

7. “What do you do when a problem happens at work?”

They test your responsibility.

✔ Example answer:

“I try to solve it if I can. If it’s something serious, I inform my team leader immediately.”

Simple and perfect.

8. “How do you make sure you work safely?”

Safety is a big topic in Dutch warehouses.

✔ Example answer:

“I always follow the safety rules, use the right equipment, and stay focused. If I see something unsafe, I report it.”

This shows responsibility.

9. “Why do you want this job?”

They want to hear that you are motivated.

✔ Example answer:

“I like warehouse work, I’m good at it, and I want a stable job where I can grow and learn.”

Short and honest.

10. “What are your strengths?”

Examples for logistics jobs:

  • Fast learner

  • Reliable

  • Hard worker

  • Team player

  • Good with scanners

  • Good with machines

  • Flexible with hours

✔ Example answer:

“I’m reliable, I work hard, and I learn new tasks quickly. My team can always count on me.”

11. “Do you have any questions for us?”

Always ask one question - it shows interest.

Good options:

  • “How many people are in the team?”

  • “What shift will I start with?”

  • “What does a normal day look like?”

Never say “No, I have no questions.”

It looks like you don’t care.

Final tip: You don’t need perfect English to do well.

Most recruiters and managers understand that workers come from different countries.

They don’t need perfect grammar.

They just want to know:

  • Are you honest?

  • Are you motivated?

  • Can you do the job safely?

  • Will you show up and try your best?

That’s all.
